For me, if I have to drag information out of the service provider, I don't make a booking. Simple as that. I am EXTREMELY courteous on Whatsapp and I find that I often get good responses because of that (wishing them a good day, asking whether they've had a good week, that sort of stuff) . But if I get monosyllabic answers or not complete information they don't hear from me again.
